Who we are
CHART RRG is a medical malpractice insurance company and AHRQ-certified Patient Safety Organization and is owned 100% by its members. Founded in 2002, we represent 47 hospitals in Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia. Each member is carefully selected as a partner based on location, size, and desire to enhance patient safety. By partnering with only qualified community hospitals, CHART is able to offer lower costs, shared rewards and lower premiums.
Protection Two Ways
CHART's goal is to reduce the cost of malpractice insurance to members, but we also strive to help our members build safer healthcare systems through CHART Institute. CHART Institute provides ongoing educational opportunities, data management, training, and sharing of best practices to help our members reduce medical errors and improve patient safety.
What We Do
As a Risk Retention Group, our mission is to stabilize malpractice costs and reduce risk in the following ways:
- CHART operates on less overhead, which keeps costs to members low.
- Each member is also an owner and provides active governance.
- By sharing risk, our members also share in rewards, profits, equity growth and cash dividends.
- Members are credited for their risk reduction efforts.
- Underwriting is equitable with members active in the process.
With hospital ownership and governance that enables long-term investment in patient safety, CHART has developed an experience for members that traditional commercial insurers cannot provide.
