CHART Institute Now an Approved Provider of Continuing Nursing Education Credits

December 14, 2011

Beginning December 17, 2011, CHART Institute can award contact hours to medical professionals.

Upper St. Clair (December 14, 2011) – CHART Institute, an AHRQ-certified Patient Safety Organization, was recognized as an approved provider of continuing nursing education units by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA.) PSNA is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Beginning December 17, 2011, CHART Institute can provide these credits to nurses and other healthcare professionals through educational programs directly conducted by CHART Institute or those provided in conjunction with another organization. Susan Lucot, MSN RN BS MLT (ASCP), CHART Institute’s Simulation Training Nurse Educator, will serve as Lead Nurse Planner to ensure each program complies with guidelines developed by PSNA.

CHART Institute will offer contact hours for educational activities in a variety of formats at no cost to its member hospitals.  The activities will address topics such as Patient Safety, Simulation Training and Risk Management. Laura Mahood MS SCT (ASCP), Director of Patient Safety, states that “continuing education can better equip the healthcare team to meet the demands of a changing healthcare system and we are so pleased to provide this valuable service to our members.”

While awarded by the PSNA, these contact hours are applicable to all CHART member hospitals in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York.
