Patient Safety Organization Overview
As a federally listed Patient Safety Organization (PSO), CHART Institute provides a secure environment for analyzing events that adversely affect patients to improve patient safety. The PSO provides confidentiality and privilege protections that empower individual members to provide unfiltered patient safety event analysis. Members receive customized feedback while trends are identified for the larger membership group.
Because membership in the CHART Institute PSO is exclusive to CHART member hospitals, the collective data it captures reflects the similarities and commonalities of our members and provides comparative learning opportunities. Creating this secure learning environment allows deep understanding of causes of errors so that efforts can be directed toward continuous improvement and recurrence prevention.
